Core ValueS
Our Core Values are derived from our Philosophy of Ministry. They are what we believe the church is to be and to do!
Core Value #1
We value the authentic, full-bodied worship of Jesus of Nazareth!
What God seeks are worshippers; people from every walk of life that so embrace Jesus as both Rescuer and Ruler, that they dedicate themselves to following Him, serving Him and making Him the center of life. Worship is an expression of finding ultimate joy in something, so much so that your world revolves around that object of worship. It defines your priorities. It affects your schedule. It guides your decisions. Worshipping Jesus is so much more than music! Songs are the result of a life that worships Jesus by living in service to Him. In fact, this is our first Core Value because it is the culmination of all the others!
Core Value #2
We value the participation in true Christian Community!
Christian community is where God’s people come together to grow together, serve together, worship together. It is the context in which we grow in Christ. In many ways, living the Christian life is a lot like learning a foreign language. Like a foreign language, it’s not what we’re used to, it takes effort, and it takes practice. And the best way to learn it well is to immerse yourself in a culture where that language is spoken. Christian community, where we study the Scriptures together, challenge and encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens, pray with one another, etc… is the culture that we immerse ourselves in to allow Christ to be “formed in us” (Gal. 4:19).
Core Value #3
We value the Bible as God’s authoritative explanation of life itself!
We believe that God has made Himself known most clearly through Jesus Christ and through His Word, the Bible. We strongly hold to the belief that it is God’s infallible word that is given as a gift to us to help us understand God’s overall plan for humanity (and the rest of His creation), to help understand who He is and to guide our lives so that we can live a life of joyful obedience. The Bible is not merely for study. It is to re-focus our thought-life. It is to help us re-prioritize our use of time, energy and resources. It is to be implemented at all levels of knowing and being and doing.
Core Value #4
We value missional living that brings transformation wherever there is brokenness!
God is on a mission. This world is a broken place and we broke it! But, God has a master plan to renovate this world and restore it to the place where it is whole again. And He is saving people out of selfish desires to give of themselves and be a part of this whole-scale redemption. We are proclaimers of God’s good news that He is on the move to rule again through the cross and resurrection of Jesus. We are disciplers that help others live out the Christian life in integrity. And we are healers who offer hope and mercy to those who feel the brokenness that sin has created. Living missionally is to be an agent of change, to bring Jesus’ rulership into the midst of a world in rebellion and restore it at the physical, emotional, relational and spiritual levels.
Core Value #5
We value true connection with God that renovates our character!
What we offer to a sick and dying world is life. But, often we lose our balance and get so involved in everything that we fail to develop this “relationship with God”. In order to give this life, we must have this life ourselves. Cultivating the inner-life is spending time with God in quiet, practicing spiritual disciplines that give the Holy Spirit access to our weak areas, and developing character and virtue that reflects the holiness of Jesus. |
